Each level varies in design
due to its procedurally generated nature. With this, no two runs are the same.
How you play the game is up to you. You can pedal down the course to get to the boss level fast or take a detour to
gain more rep
—the game’s XP. The more rep you gain, the more health you earn. It also lets you sign with a sponsor to enter
exclusive races
and compete on the
global leaderboard
. Of course, this also allows you to
unlock cosmetic items.
The game employs a roguelike system requiring you to
start from the beginning if you crash
. However, there are
multiple checkpoints
that, if passed through, act as respawn locations after bailouts. However, mastering the game is nearly impossible due to its ever-changing course. Crashing also takes one health point and a couple of hundred rep points. Worse, quitting before the boss level also incurs a rep penalty.

Is the game good?
Overall, Descenders is a
punishing, fast-paced, and stunt-focused
game. However, despite that, its core gameplay is pure and simple. Each level is so well-crafted, with its procedurally generated map presented with great scenery. Unfortunately, the procedural generation robs the players of the chance to dive into and master the game. Each run will be as challenging as your first time on the course.
